This thread has been moved out of the technical forum and over to the Chris Craft forum, where it should have been posted. One of our senior members has taken time to respond, asking about the boat in question and specifically the engines you are inquiring about, but you seem to have disregarded his question?

It all depends on how they were run. I sold a 50 Chris in Florida with 692's that had 3500 hours on them. They checked out fine. Surveyor said that they were probably never run over 1500 RPM's.

You will have to survey the boat and survey the engines with compressions tests in order to find out what is her true condition

Any old boat can take you to the poor house. IMO The main problem with the 4 stateroom galley up Chris 501 is how very small the deck house becomes with the galley up there. That model won't "sit" as many as it sleeps.
