Let's Get Started! A Short Introduction...

First... let me say *Thank You* for visiting YachtForums!

My name is Carl. Formally, I'm a hydrodynamic engineer specializing in propulsion systems and high speed stabilization for the Department of the Navy, Lockheed, Bombardier, Mercury Marine and Yamaha Motor Corporation. If you have an interest, I've included some info below. Last year, I worked as the managing editor of a well-known yachting magazine. I have since been reincarnated into the administrator of YachtForums.com.

Please feel free to contact me for help, or suggestions on how we can make YachtForums an online waypoint that you will plot into your navigation system.

Looking forward to calm seas, smooth sailing, and to keep things interesting... occasional cavitation!

    Carl

    Hi Jorge,

If there's one area we're all prone to having problems with... it's exhaust systems. Glad to have your expertise on board.

    Great site

    Hi Carl,
I am new to this site, but I am very excited about it and wish you lots of luck in adding new guality members. Just out of curiosity, are there general parameters for what is considered a yacht on this site?

    Hi Fish!

Thanks for joining. Glad to have you aboard!

You brought up a good question, which sent me looking to my Chapman Piloting Book (58th edition, circa 1987) . According to Chapman... "a yacht often connotes luxurious accomodations, and it is usually not used for boats under 40 feet in length, but there are no established limits in this respect."

In answer your question, if your boat, yacht or bathtub is less than 40 feet... don't let that discourage you from joining in the discussion!:)

    Carl
