We replaced the halogen recessed lights with 5w and 7w led lights. All circuits are 120v. Turns out that the LEDs are Too bright. They make a household gang ox style dimmer but we have little micro switches. We tried to place a dimmer inline and out of the way, but when dimmed they don't turn back on.

    Any ideas?

There must be a special dimmer for LED, which in reality is a "flicker" where the LED is rapidly turned on and off instead of glowing...

    Hi

First of all you need to check the colour temperature - warm white rather to match halogens rather than just white (afraid I'm on the road so can't give you the actual numbers - will say xxx K on the side of the packet).

Also to dim LEDS requires dedicated switch gear.

I like the lumitec line of led as they ramp up when turned on and you just stop them at the intensity needed by flicking th switch off and on. No fuss, no dimmer, no extra wire, just a basic switch

Obviously too late in your case, you will need a special dimmer which whoever made your LEDs should be able to supply or recommend.

Are not LEDs are on "flicker" all the time? If you want super slo-mo video of many current Lemans cars (LED headlights on the Audis, LED taillights on most others) and the camera refresh rate is in the range of the LED rate you see them constantly flashing.

Well we down graded to 5w lights and turned out great. Went with 6000k cool white lights and new rope lights. Really make the vibe look like a new boat...plus all new softgoods.

The salon looks nice. I personally like 2700K because it mimics incandescant light range. But everyone has their own preference.
