    Hi LC,

Glad that you like my designs, if and when you decide to have a boat built to your own specifications, you are most welcome!

Meanwhile I shrinked the above yacht to half the size, now 230 feet/70 meters. Still a big yacht, but I have given it a red hull to give you a hint how it could look like....

    /Lars

    Well, Ladies Choice...

I have made an attempt to design a yacht incorporating most of all your ideas.
Maybe on the expensive side to be a 50 meter (164´) since it has one deck more than usual, the tower on top of that and a beam of 10 meter (33´) to be stable enough.

The helideck is dimensioned to take a twin engine helicopter and would also be a good deck to keep a sailing boat, but not at the same time I think...

Below is a deck where you store tenders and the submarine which is possible to lift up to the helideck for easier launching.

Owners accommodations could be on any of the decks above, with easy access to the sundeck and the eye in the sky... :)

    Ditto

:) Don't see how LC could not like this one. What really make this really special is the observation tower. WE HAVE A WINNER HERE!

    the tower (crown)

could be a lift integrated in the pilot deck and when the yacht was in port could go to high position to every body see, :) in such way when in high across the 7 seas the high could be regulated by a computer to best suit the stability of the ship.

    Barroso :)

    The perfect yacht

    Me Likey! lol,

I am stunned actually because that is what i had envisioned all along as the perfect yacht for myself, still elegant, a bit artsy or as you put it designer yachts, and functional as well.

The blue one is my favorite, I like the icy slivery blue against the blue tint of the windows, with some stainless railings put up on the decks after the toys are stowed it would be sleek!

I showed my broker friend, he liked it alot too, of course his Question was how much do you think it would cost to build? My answer was same as your's, more then most 50meter yachts. I though would like to get a "guess-te-mate" of what something like this would put me back, because if it is possible I may quite looking at what is out there now and concentrate more in building this.

I am though into very high end audio/video and techie stuff so keep that in mind, I would probably have a outdoor theater on the top deck at port when the sailboat is launched and tied up beside., That expansive deck would be perfect for deck chairs spread out, a screen lowers from the soffit overhang of the deck above and it is "raft in" at the movies for all the yachties in the basin. BYOP of course

My mind reels at the possibilities actually, I do like the idea of the moving eye in the sky that was suggested, but wouldn't that just be absurdly expensive and prone to trouble?

Good to hear that you like this design! With exception of the tower, she is almost retro in the styling, at least the way retro is used in modern lobster style boats today.

To build, I have no cost estimate at hand. Since she will have a lot of internal space, there can be pretty open loft-like areas which doesnt have to cost so much, nor add weight to the superstructure.

She can be built in any combination of steel, aluminium and fibreglass/composite, but I am thinking of all aluminium, Alustar as a good and strong material for the whole yacht. http://www.corusgroup-koblenz.com/english/products/index.htm

There are several good yards that can build in this material, both in Europe and the US when you have come so far.

At least you have now got something to compare existing yachts with... ;)

Here is an updated, slightly lower and sleeker version in a silvery grey color.

We were talking of creating a true AMG boat some time ago. (AMG as in Mercedes specially tuned cars). This fast cruiser should fit pretty well as an AMG I think, a sporty sedan, a comfortable superyacht tender or a weekender for getting away from it all.
The Hardtop has a two-piece glass that can slide to open fore or aft.

She is 40+ feet and 40+ knots would be a nice cruising speed... :)

Very elegant design; i'm having a bit of a problem with the front half of the window though, but i wouldn't know a solution either for it; it has to do with vertical lines and angled ones (bit of a translation problem here as well:))

    Fish

 The windows make me to remind the holes of a fish through where water is filtered.
The chestnut tree (Deck) makes me to remind a very independent spirit and simultaneously Bach and " coffee cantata " BMV 211 ...

The light on the bow makes to remind the zoom of the yellow submarine :)

I may have spent too much time around hotrods, but I'd be tempted to move the helm/windshield aft a bit. Boy Lars, for a "2-D" drawing you sure came up with some sweet shading on the hull modeling!

    Thanks Kelly!

Yes, to be a simple program it is still possible to get pretty nice renderings. This was made by mixing 4 colors in a gradient and then turn it some degrees...:)

Humm, 4 colors in one gradient! With Corel Draw I am limited to 2 colors. At least both colors can be any mix, plus I can set the "mid point" (gradient profile) where I want. And radial gradients are possible. But to cover 4 colors I would have to break the area into 2 separate fills. Which is doable, just more work.

Windshield's add alot of character to a design and provide function as well, but in South Florida... windscreens are the equivilent of driving a car WITHOUT air conditioning. I understand the climate is different in other parts of the world and windcreeens add protection against the elements, i.e. cold air or rain, but... very few windscreens provide sufficient openings for good fresh air flow.

Express cruisers are among the most popular boats around. Sometimes, it appears that people buy them just because of their sporty looks, because they have a large amount of un-used deck space... and again, very little fresh air flow over the cockpit area. If they do have a windscreen with an opening, it's often not large enough to flush a mosquito out of the cockpit at 40 knots.

So here's an idea... why not make the front window flip forward to allow full fresh air flow.... and then be able to rotate another 180 degrees backwards, creating a visor/sun shade over the driver and passenger?

I'm not critiquing your design Lars. I LOVE this boat. But when I look at large runabouts and express cruiser types, the first thing that comes to mind is... this thing's going to be a sauna.
