    Hello everyone,

    This is the first time I've been onboard a motor yacht that is being lifted out the water under my control as the engineer.

    Using my previous engineering knowledge I have come up with a basic list of jobs to do before taking the boat out of the water (via 200tonne travel hoist) the boat is a 35m fibre glass M/Y.

    So my list:

    Go dead boat and isolate starting to main engines and generators at their respective isolation points.

    Switch off all salt water fed systems I.e. Fridges.

    Once out the water and before connecting up to shore power I will swap the boat earth over to shore earth.

    One thing I wasn't sure about was wether or not to shut sea cocks for main sea chest and through hull services.

    Would just keep in mind to reprime systems on completion of dropping her back in.

    I'd isolate sewage pumps etc also.

    Anything else I have missed please write here and I'll write my own guide for future engineers/crew on this boat!

    Usually everything will re-prime when put back in the water. Remove all food from the refrigerator/freezer.

    A lot would depend on how long it's going to be out and what is going to be done. However, I'd assume too that if it's a reputable shipyard they can also assist you in handling it correctly as they do it all the time.

    She's a 35m, coming out for ten days to clean her bottom and replace anodes and re anti foul.

    Will speak to manufacturer also and see if they have a shutdown plan.
