Installed a new generator about a year ago and did not put a new muffler in at the time. Well as luck has it started to rust out and I now have a pin hole in it. Old one is a Onan Aqualift Metal muffler with a 2 inch inlet on the side and a 2 inch outlet on top. Anyones using the fiberglass ones? I would appreciate any feed back.... Thanks

I have a new Onan too, and still use the 'old' fiberglass muffler without any problem and it's quite enough. Next time I haul the boat, I will put a thru-hull at port side, so we don't hear anything when sitting in the cockpit.

Most marine Genset mufflers are stainless steel.... It s a no brainer.

My Egg exits out the starboard side so it is quiet in the cockpit. The only problem is if you raft up with other boats, you blow fumes/exhaust onto the next boat.

Problem??, No problem. Anti raft up device in place on your stb side. Put your holding tank vents on the port side. Keeps them off,,, No problem, no dings, no mars, no scratches, no noise, no complaints.
I really tried to install our second genset exhaust to the other side but practically could not. Discovered the A/C water discharge works well. Splashes on the next boats hull side and drives them crazy. So My stb was covered with a ARD already and dual gensets on the port side (like cannon). Yep, My ARD's are good.

I replaced my gen muffler with a Centek fiberglass one several years ago. No issues. I had to replace the whole exhaust because the galvanized steel original started getting pin holes in it too. If you are going out the side you will be removing this anyway.
