Abeking and Rasmussen launches their second largest yacht to date... 81.8-meter superyacht going by the name Kibo? hull number 6497. She has a cream colour hull and white superstructure.

Oh that is a strange looking superyacht IMO! Different design elements which do not really match...

I really like her! I hope that the interior won't be held a secret. I believe Abeking & Rasmussen has another 81m under construction. Do you think they will be sisters?

Ken, on the previous page in this thread you find a photo of another 81m casco being towed to A&R. There are slight variations on the exterior design but they are definitely sisters.

I am still more interested in the 72m "6499".

I remember seeing the casco but I forgot the date, meaning that I wasn't sure if it belonged to the recent launch or the next.

I just read that the interior and exterior is done by Terence Disdale. I was thinking that I saw some design characteristics of Eclipse in her design.

They are going to be sisters, 6497 and 6498 both around the same length. I suspect the other will be launched this year as well. Her design isn't bad at all, I personally would have just liked the bow to have been sharper like 78-meter sisters.

Yep, she is very nice. Was nice to see her here and in person, she is gorgeous and lights up pretty nicely.

Today's activity at the Weser River

As mentioned before, I did a little photo safari at the Weser River today.

The Yacht KIBO at Abeking looks really great. At least not a yacht from the typical Reymond Langton monotony. First picture made by me, the others are free pictures from the local press. Could not make more pictures, I had to look directly into the low sun.

    Kibo

The only other reasonable picture of KIBO, I could take. In order to get into a better position for more pictures, I would have had to break into the Lürssen head office (which is on the other side of the Weser River) :).

I'm starting to wonder if she has a grey hull rather than tan/sand. If you look at the aft photo you will see grey areas showing through on the transom. There are grey accent colours as well up on the mast. So I wonder if the tan is just the colour of a protective film.

That looks to be a protective plastic covering that will be removed before delivery.
