    Indeed ;). You can in the morning see who comes to the tea in the afternoon because it is very flat ;)

    Its called in dutch a "Platbodem" .......meaning literally flat bottom boat.

    It has no keel so it can easily lay on a sandbank without damaging the bottom.

    These little ships were used for fishing and transporting goods in shallow waters.

    The Dutch Queen has on called the "De Groene draeck"

    So beautiful! Thanks for posting!!

    And just like Fort Lauderdale, a few more feet of water from a storm surge or the polar ice cap melting and we are all underwater living on those gorgeous floats!!

    Nice pics! I realize something with about 3 or 4 of the boats you shot...the rub rail is out of rope? or they are decorated in the rope look?

    A lot of Dutch builders use rope rails.
    Its a kind of nostalgic look, but it does really have a function.

    I think it is on OceAnco's "Nirvana" wrapping around the stern platform...I can't remember if I have the right yacht but I know I have seen it on one of the more recent OceAncos.

    Oh what a wonderful video, there is nothing more beautiful than people out on the water enjoying their boats and good company.

    On the Dutch cruisers and trawlers that I have sold, the rope is decorative only although it is rather sturdy. Using the rope (sometimes plastic) as a rubrail can be expensive. Nonetheless, aesthetics trump practicality.
