    Hi Gang,

I’ve just acquired a 1981 53’ Hatteras MY in So Cal and needs to make her way up to Tacoma, WA. (Thanks to many of you helping me ge through the oil sampling results during survey). My initial intent is to have it captained up, however another alternative is to have it transported by a cargo ship. I have seen many posts in this topic, however they are quite old, I surmise things have changed, or there’s updated info out there.

The boat is in unbelievable condition, hence having her arrive in the same condition is perhaps worth the additional cost of putting her on a transport vessel.

I’ve researched seven-seas as well as a couple others online and can’t pinpoint these specific options/destinations. It seems that longer trips to the Caribbean or to the Med are more readily available by these companies.

Would like to make the move in January if possible.

Any thoughts, feedback or additional options come to mind?

Thanks in advance for your help...

Sevenstar yacht shipping. They load in Ensenada, Mexico and unload in Victoria, BC. That's the standard stops for others as well.

Drive it!!! So Cal to San Francisco can be done in four easy legs. Santa Barbara, Morro Bay, Monterey, San Fran. I'd do that one on board and then hire for the longer leg to Tacoma.

I'd think Seven Star would be $25k, which would be half the rate from Ensenada To Florida.

    Use that boat!!!!

Going through Northern California and Oregon this time of year? We get some pretty strong swells coming from the North West this time of year and it can blow.

Timing is important. Right now point conception is <3 w 14 sec seperation. Doesn't get any better than that. Yes the opportunities will shrink as the weather creeps in. But make it fun. Take your time. Do it in a few legs. You'll remember the trip for a long time.

I wouldn't want to be heading up the central and north coast this time of year. It can change quickly and get miserable.

Ensenada sounds good. No ship freighters stop in San Diego or Orange County, so the next one up would be Long Beach.
