Hello all, I am new to yacht forum and New to Post boats. I just got my offer accepted on a 1988 46 Post out of Palm Harbor. Sea trial will Be Saturday and if all goes good I should be bringing I‎t home to Miami next Wednesday.

Any info I can get on Post aside from what I have read on here would be great.

From what I can see one engine does smoke for about a minute after start up white smoke and then disappears and if block heater on then no smoke. Owner saids since he purchased boat it’s been like that just kee up maintenance my diesel mechanic said same thing but I‎t could last 6 months or 5 years for rebuild just watch I‎t carefully, this was factored into price and I know I got a great deal for the boat. The port engine is perfect with 400 hours and the generator has 10 hours since rebuilt.

The boat needs interior upgrading, new floor, reupholster the couches etc. Has a good GPS with good fishing capabilities, the deck needs to be repainted which isn’t a big thing, and the second bathroom is having an issues where is blows a breaker, I am guessing it’s either a solenoid or head motor, not sure about that will know more Saturday.

Again any input about the overall boat and engines anything would be great. Has the 692 DD.

Again thank you and hope to hear from you guys

I hope your offer included one engine rebuild.....if the description in the previous thread is accurate you are probably going to need one.

It was factored into, even though my mechanic said as long as i keep the maintenance of the owner going and don’t push the engine just keep doing what the owner has done. It could last me anywhere from 6 months or more. It’s had the same smoke coming out now for several years.

The previous owner used her all the time. He stopped using her only in March or April of this year when he bought a bigger motor yacht. He still currently would take her out at least once or twice a month to move her around but wouldn’t do any over nights since he bought the bigger one. That boat has been from boca grand and north here in florida

    Post Yacht Owners.
When you get old, everybody else is a kid.

You may need to be a Post owner to understand.

There is a large and active group of great Post owners on YF.
For years I look forward to read what new work is in progress and finished on their Post Yacht.
    Great bunch of Post Kids.

It's been a while, one of the kids built up a grand transom well. Give some searches on older Post threads.
Maybe that owner will pop in.

I wouldn’t want to mess with the transom. Any ideas for the void behind the ladder, or that should be a no go

Mine came with one in the port lazzarette box. I took it out and used the space for a dive tank rack and propane tank etc. I just bought a portable live well for under the transom sole and plumbed it to a wash down pump and sea cock. I run the overflow out a hose through the transom scupper. If you're not going to use it you can keep it on the dock. Or I simply store some chamois and a couple of mits in it for handy access.
