An issue on our pending purchase of a Navigator 53 Classic: No fire suppression system. Any suggestions on type and approximate cost would be most appreciated.

Sea Fire makes nice systems for your vessel. A 1,000 cubic ft. FM 200 Auto FG 1000 / manual extinguisher would cost you $ 900. The cable manual pull cable another $125 depending on the length. This is a simple do it yourself installation and their web site can walk you through it. The unit comes with mounting brackets and the panel indicator active light. Sea Fire FG or FD model will be fine for your boat once you measure the cubic ft. of the space to be covered and sized appropriately .

It's not expensive and easy to instal but you need to measure the size/volume of the ER to pick the right size. I would not have a boat without fire suppression in the machinery space. Remember that you need a shut down module to shut down engines and gennies automatically

I m about to order a system for my 53 hatt that's being repowered (currently has a single large Co system with plumbing )

How old is this boat? Amazing it did not have a fire system from the factory.
OR, has it been disabled and/or removed?

    It's a 1998. Don't think there was one.

Thanks for the Sea Fire info. Checked their site and others. Looks like a fit. Think the engine room is about 1500 sq ft. Going to have it measured.
