    Any suggestions regarding an engine temp gauge that's reads erratically while enroute. Shows readings from 50°f to 180°f. All other engine operation is normal. New owner. Thanks for the help.

    Hi Menkes. Do you know if the engine is a newer D6 or one of the older TAMD's.

    Very different motors as to where sensors are placed.

    Sounds like it's time to pull the core from the coolers. Those early D6 are getting to the age where they are clogging up. Also watch for corrosion on the end-caps, they are pitting badly on the machined faces. The hoses also go soft and start to split, check those too. Check the crank breather hoses , another classic D6 fail.

    I did notice that the hoses are due to be replaced.

    You could spend hours checking on the Vodia Diagnostic tester for a sensor fault, but trust me, it's down to basic engineering on the cooler system. Simple.
