Feadship launched their new yacht on friday called "Sea Owl"

It's a decent yacht, but with a green hull......

I passed their yard today at De Kaag and made this little video.
    Hope you will enjoy.

Nice to see the owner keep the essense of the boat still from how the Burger is. The smaller "Sea Owl's" interior looks really good withthe carpentry and woodwork. Andrew Winch has done the interior of the Feadship version, this should be GOOD!

Her colors are really well chosen: even in the usual greyish Dutch rivers and the type of sunlight we have on some days the yacht stands out. Very good looking ship.
(Green is finally getting more popular in the car industry as well, following the brown and white color trends of the past years)

I like that forward seating area on the bow forward of the bridge. That will be nice when the shade is put up and the cushions and stuff are brought out. Looks interesting to have a drink.

Apparently she has been heading to Norway. I didn't know she was registered in Bahamas? That is the flag I see flying from the stern.

Some nice interior shots of Sea Owl on the Andrew Winch website. Also some pics of her two tenders.

I find it interesting in that the Burger "Sea Owl" was only delivered in 2010, so it would appear this larger "Sea Owl" was already in design prior to the completion of the smaller one. The Burger was Sea Owl II. Anyone know about Sea Owl I? Interesting that the founder of the Hedge Fund which Mercer is co-CEO of owns the larger Feadship, "Archimedes." I like the design of both Sea Owls and most of Andrew Winch's work.

Sea Owl I was slated to be an interim vessel for her owners whilst the Feadship was being built but unfortunately the Burger was fraught with many delays over the build schedule due largely to layers of overburdened electronic security measures specified and the use of ballistic glass (a first for Burger) the build time grew from what was a contracted 29 months to 46 months before numerous attempts at builders trials were rejected by the owners surveyors and flag state surveyors. She was finally delivered to the owners after some attorney wrangling and placed in service.

Very interesting. It's amazing how many yacht builds take paths like the one you describe for various reasons.

Seaowl I was a 124 delta that had the same "window treatment" and green hull added after purchase.

You can have a look at the gorgeous interior of "Sea Owl" on the designer's website.
