March Bad Sea State

Well here in the Caribbean we are expected to see way above normal sea state. As a result of a Deep Vigourous Low in the North Eastern Atlantic. It is producing significant swells and they are being pushed south towards the Caribbean islands.

Here in Barbados, we are told to expect swells up to 18 feet. As a result, all coastal craft are told to be pulled from the water or seek the harbour, marina or Carlisle Bay. Already many of the tourist pleasure craft have left the Shallow Draught and are at anchor in the Carlilse Bay.

Already we are seeing some significant swells off the Brandon's Beach area but the open water seems fine for now. Container ships due for tomorrow are already up. The Amstel Trader is up as I type. Port St. Charles is like a ghost-town.

That was the last vessel to leave the Marina megayacht berths.

It is said that the Northern most islands of the Lesser Antilles are already experiencing swells in the order of 12 feet? I heard that in the weather report. Anyone here from Antigua or St. Barths, St. Maarten can give us an idea?

Ron,
Good luck over there. It's been blowing here in FL for days. Supposed to taper off tonight, but may kick up again over the weekend. Originally had plans to head to Key West by boat this week. Glad they were changed.
