Are you aware of that we are approaching 10.000 members now..? This could be a true SINK or SWIM situation...

........well, I sincerely hope that we can manage it so that all YF members don't arrive at the same time .

Lars--almost 10,000? Really? Where are they all hiding?

On a separate but related note, are you, Carl, and the rest of the posse planning any special recognition of the ten thousandth member?

Loren, at this specific moment we have 9,398 registered members. So about another 602 members to go before we reach that magical figure. At the rate we take on members we should get there early next year.

It would probably be a spammer... I guess Carl has deleted 1000 "spammer members" by now...

The number is actually MUCH higher. On average, I delete about 6-10 memberships daily. The majority of these are spambots, programmed to sign-up on forums and plant their seeds. Up until recently, it's been nothing more than a nuisance... but that all changed last week.

A new breed of bots is targeting high traffic forums, specifically... sites that are deeply propagated on the net. The focus of these attacks appears to be geared toward vB based sites because they are often the most popular forums. At current, I'm deleting over 50 a day, but yesterday I came up with a solution that is helping to keep the pests under control. Unfortunately, it's only a matter of time before they get smart.

If I've been quiet lately it's because I'm spending an inordinate amount of time crushing critters.

Guys,

I've split the posts above into a new thread. We got a little off subject while discussing TK's new Fairline.

Hey, I can help out here.
I'll sign up new members for each of my split personalities.
Congrats on almost reaching a new milestone.

Carl,
Unfortunately, being successful also means attracting all those unwanted bots and critters. Am sure you can write code to keep ahead of them.

Hey that's me, SorS.
Yeah, even though I'm a new member I might become SorS 10,000 if I get that place. I just know it will become 10,000 when I'm asleep though.
