| The new NSX...
It's suppose to debut at the Detroit Auto Show this weekend (Jan 6th & 7th, 2007). For us NSXers, the next 24 hours will be longer than the past 4 years that Honda has tormented us. Thank God for the net... pics & specs should hit the information super highway within hours of the show opening.
Sorry, a little off-topic.

I sure hope so Kurt! The car in your picture is the HSC. It debuted in 2003 as a possible successor to the NSX. Since then, nobody has heard a single word about it. Rumors and speculation are running rampant. It varies from a mid-engine V-10 to a front engine V-8. It's anyone's guess at this point.
I remain hopeful the new NSX will look like the HSC. It's a highly accepted design among purists. Less than 22 hours to go now...

Aarrgghhhh! Postponed until Sunday, January 7th at 1:30 PM. I've been online all morning looking for news, a glimpse, details, etc. Found this link... http://hondanews.com/CatID1000?mid=2...81057&mime=asc |

C'mon Carl, it's only a car. LoL
Not like it's a brand new yacht pulling out of the shed for the very fist time (that always seems like it's a birthing, of sorts).

I know, I know... I need to grow up. I don't get excited about too many things anymore, but the NSX represents a certain level of refinement that I've always aspired to. It's just nice to know a high degree of engineering, detail and commitment still exists in our world. I guess this is one of the reasons I hold many of our yacht builders in great esteem. They are truly delivering some remarkable products.

Found this on AutoSpies.com. They had a spy (sorta speak) at the Detroit Show yesterday, sneaking pics during the pre-show set up. There are several other pics on the site, none as good, but this partially draped car is center stage under the Acura Advanced Sports Car Concept sign...

That looks pretty "tall" for an NSX.
If your stuck on a Japanese super-car, also look at these upcoming models, they also come with a small backseat for double-dating or a beer cooler:
Lexus & Infiniti..

From what I understand the upcoming Infinit i GTR has been specifically created to "feast" on cars like the NSX
Here is a story from www.windingroad.com (great free on-line mag).
"Work is continuing on Nissan’s eagerly-awaited GT-R super coupe which is still on place to make its world debut at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show next October.
Nissan chief Carlos Ghosn has confirmed that the new GT-R will be built at Nissan’s Tochigi factory in Japan, with the engine sourced out of Nissan’s Yokohama plant. Even at this late stage of the game, with the finished car less than 12 months away, and with mules widely seen testing at Germany’s Nürburgring (see above and links below), a thick blanket of secrecy still hangs over the exact spec of the new GT-R, and insiders say only a small handful of top Nissan people really know the car’s engine capacity for sure.
Japan’s well connected grapevine, however, remains convinced the new GT-R will run with a 3.7-liter DOHC twin-turbo V6, producing around 450 brake horsepower and torque of 366 pound-feet."

In the years leading up to today, assorted magazines have reached deep into the vacant abyss of their staff's knowledge and come up with a "scoop" that wreaks with the sweet aroma of a similar word spelled with a "p".
In their futile attempts to bump dwindling newstand sales, a far-fetched rendering generally accompanies the articles, usually the work of an over-active teenage mind that has spent more time with Photoshop then popping pimples.
Past rumors on the resurrection of the Japerrari include....
* It will arrive in ’08, together with the introduction of the Acura brand in Japan.
* Honda will give a clear design clue in Detroit in the Acura PR event.
* V10 powerplant will be a 4.5L, smaller than current BMW’s M5 and the upcoming Lexus V10. They also say that it would have a V angle of 95º, similar to F1 engines, and that for that reason the body will have to be wider. It should reach around 120PS/L with max output of 550Hp. Power is said to come to the wheels through a Semi-AT transmission.
* Platform is said to be a newly developed FR+SH-AWD setup, together with a new suspension design, and inheriting an all aluminium body construction from past-gen NSX.
* Style is said to be more in the line of British GT’s than Italian Ferraris. According to the source, he can’t really find similarities with other cars on the road, although he says that you could say it’s a Honda (Acura), but that you couldn’t think of it as a NSX successor.
* Price would be in line with past-gen NSX (priced around 10 – 12 Million yen), which would be considerably cheaper than Lexus targeted price of 15-20 MYen for their GT-car.
The rendering of the Acura Advanced Sports Car Concept (seen below) is probably close to the real thing. Of course, we'll know more later today. While the ASCC looks intriguing, automotive renderings are always much more epic than yacht renderings. With the latter... WYSIWYG applies. Less than 6 hours to go...

That has more in common stylistically with a 93 Prelude than with an NSX! (this is not a bad thing!)

Hmm, another streamlined concept car that could have been any brand and with little appeal to me. The NSX made it through performance more than looks I think, a path they should have followed.
After having seen the pictures from the show, there is no car that I really would like to have and I miss something like the more realistic, still forward thinking ideas that were presented by VW six years ago. The Microbus concept.. |

Seriously mixed emotions by NSX owners over on Prime. The majority, being purists, seem to hate the new car… http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?t=81458 http://www.nsxprime.com/forums/showthread.php?t=81401
Personally, it’s growing on me. But I have to admit to being disappointed at first. I had hoped for the HSC concept. What they’ve debuted looks like a 21st century, extruded aluminum Vette. The proposed specs are impressive… a 600 hp V-10, all wheel drive vehicle with an estimated 200 mph top end. Still… it’s just not an NSX. It’s Acura’s answer to the crop of new GT cars that are coming from other auto manufacturers. BTW... I thought the design looked vaguely familiar. After doing a little research to jog my memory, sure enough… it’s an edgy version of Saab’s Aero-X concept (w/o a pop-top). Seen here… http://www.autoblog.com/2006/02/28/v...ero-x-concept/
I’ve posted a few images below of the new NSX so they are on YF’s server. Never know when the links in previous posts will be disabled.
