A Portuguese designer has mocked-up a true-to-life, modern day Dino. If only Ferrari would build it...

Guys, Ferrari has officially made a statement that they will not make a new Dino.

I have another thing stuck in my mind that is typical for the NSX. The NSX is in general a trouble free car. Have you tried running a Ferrari for 100 K mls without any major difficulties?
This brings me to my own two loyal servants. A Volvo 850 T-5 stationwagon and a Saab 9000 Turbo. The Saab has covered about a 170 Kmls without malfunction and the Volvo has done a respectable 250 Kmls without any major malfunction. Both are still running perfectly and still have their first Turbos fitted. The Volvo has driven this distance on LPG instead of regular fuel is an even more remarkable fact.
Both are not supercars but in real life situations they can make many sportscar's life pretty miserable.

Question is; Is reliability an issue with supercars?

Reliability has improved dramatically with Ferraris in recent years. The 360's and 430's have very few issues compared to their predecessors. Lamborghini is a much improved auto manufacturer too, since Audi took the wheel. The Gallardo is said to be comprised of mostly off-the-shelf Audi parts.

I recently had the opportunity to ride in a Lamborghini Diablo. Since then, I've come to realize some things are better left to the imagination. The Diablo was a difficult car to drive. It's nice to look at, but it wasn't a pleasurable driving experience, which completely detracted from the exhilaration of driving a Lamborghini.

I took the co-pilots seat in a 360 Modena a few weeks ago as part of a South Florida car rally. This car was truly truly impressive, but the cost-for-performance factor over my 10 year old, $40k NSX wasn't justifiable (to me).

Getting back to the reliability question... the Japanese auto manufacturers have raised the reliability bar for consumer cars. It looks like their positioning themselves to do the same with exotics too. For those that place a premium on reliability... the choices are about to get larger.

I remember the Diablo having the handling characteristics of a Steinway piano. Great sound, but the rest was crap.

I've been "treated" to a drive in a Veyron last year. The car was driven on public roads by a factory testdriver. I've suffered from motion sickness for the two days after. Nice car, but simply to fast to grasp.

You're right to choose the NSX over a Ferrari. The NSX is a car you can live with. Perfect for getting groceries and track-days.

Not so interesting for americans, but a usefull tip for europeans.
There are quite some very well maintained NSX'es in Switzerland.
Good condition, low milage and a lot cheaper than in other european countries. Last night I came across a 1991 NSX. 64.600 kms, undamaged, full service records, for 16.000 euros.

Won't take much longer before I take the big step towards NSX ownership.

Great name for a company! The only problem I have with Movit brakes is that I rather would like my brakes to be named Stopit!

BTW, I love those 2 pcs. BBS RS rims. The icing on the NSX cake.

They keep trying and trying, but there has only been #1 king for the last couple of years.
Why it's so good, the engine is sealed out of sight.

The 900 can be a pain in the behind. I call the 900 a James Bond car because of the smoke curtains they trail behind them. The 9000 is a lot more reliable and better engineered. The Aero is the automotive ecquivalent to the express cruiser. It keeps you looking for any reason to skip the border to Germany.

Some sample vids of what Aeros do best and why a Volvo 850 is not boring.....at all.

Since a few years ago, "the gentlemen's agreement" in China or Japan has stopped. The agreement contains that cars in China or Japan (I don't remember which one) cannot have standard more than 280bhp. They stopped with it and now Lexus comes with the LF-A: a V10 500hp, Nissan Skyline GT-R: also 500hp and now the NSX to. European auto manufacturers are going to have a lot of trouble because of these Chinese sportscars.

...the NSX is going to be nice, I'm almost sure about it.

But, like too many things these days, the FT-HS may sell because it's so different. In a world hell-bent on seeking individuality, some behold aesthetic extreme, even when it goes against the laws of good taste.

Send 'em your resume. They need it!
Saw this video of a Supra spanking a Murci. CODOG... THIS should be your next upgrade!

Hey Carl,

Just thought I'd resurrect this thread to point out some new pics of what looks to be a legit-bodied prototype, albeit in full camo:
