Teaser pics for Carl.
2013 is the date on the wall they are talking about.
I have 30ish images shot with a Nikon D5100 which I need to clean up and move to a suitable location for you to grab because I'm sure you'll want to tinker crop, etc. from a full size image. I'll post a few here and the high res. in a google album for you if you wish.
That being said, the car is f*&^%$# unreal. The Acura folks were quite kind and pleasant to speak to about it and say they have received wonderful accolades on the car, design, and the anticipated production of 2013 and release of 2015.
More later. I know you have a packed schedule this week, and I'm just getting in for the day and need to decompress over a bottle of adult goodness, the evening news, my lovely bride, email, etc.

Thanks Jasen!
Takanobu Ito, the President and CEO of Honda Motor Co. (who was also a member of the original NSX engineering team), stated a 3 year production window during the Detroit debut. This has been repeated throughout the automotive press.
A 3 year wait has been a source of anxiety and frustration for enthusiasts, but if 2013 is the actual target date, then it sounds like it will release as a 2014 model, late in 2013. That means we only have a 24 month wait. Good news!
... except the end of the world is coming on December 21st, 2012. |

A few more pics from the show. Carl, I've sent you a PM with add'l details on the larger pics. I think I took 30 or so.
Like I said, this car is beautiful. Edgy, and raked with an arousing and aggressive body line. All from a Japanese manufacture. Considering this is aimed to compete with cars 2X the price point, I'd welcome this to the addition of a local "Cars and Coffee" gathering.
For some reason, they would not, under any circumstances open the doors to allow a peek inside. You could see that the interior was finished, however they would not open them. I have yet to see an interior pic of the car.
Dates I heard while speaking to them were 2013 and 2015. So I'd guess and I'm sure Carl is closer to the heartbeat of the news, that they're tooling up in 2013 for a 14/15 release.
Enjoy!

At the risk of losing my job here.... I'm gonna' say I'm not really digging it. Yes, it is indeed a hot looking car, but there's nothing there that sets it apart from other supercars. Yes the headlights are distinctive, but we all know those won't make it to production. It sorta' just looks like an Acura-ized R8.
(Sorry Carl...)
I'm more of a GT car guy I suppose... engine up front, long hood, cockpit set way back. The NSX purists will disagree, but the HSV-010 concept would have made a cooler car.

I know every design is subject to individual taste, but in my opinion, they really nailed it! It's curvy, edgy, exotic and clearly... an Acura! It is an unmistakable design language; futuristic and stealthy. Still, the R8 profile similarities are uncanny.
If the new NSX delivers performance on par with a GTR - at a price competitive with the R8 - Enzo is going to roll upside down in his grave so the whole world can kiss his @$$.
Setting performance and design aside, Honda has one thing that NO other exotic car manufacturer can match... reliability! |

Realistically, this is the car that makes the most sense. You can buy 2009 models under 20,000 miles for less than $60k. Hard to beat in the bang for the buck category!
Still, the GTR is just plane fugly.

I like it. And that's coming from a long time Pcar owner / fan, racing enthusiast, etc. It's a completely different car as far as body lines compared to a 911 but I really think they did an outstanding job with it. Providing they really stock it full of performance. It's got to be a 200MPH car. Or darn near. And it's got to hold its own and be able to run right along through the twisties with the Scuds, Bulls, and even American muscle.
Kevin- Pls hold for GTR pics.... we'll dirty up Carl's thread and keep your job secure. There was a beautiful blue GTR there as well.

To me that new Honda just appears to have too little overhang at the ends...too 'chopped off'. (I also like the forgotten graceful long bows and sterns on sailboats as well).
I think one would grow tired of those multiple sharp edges. I still think the R8 Audi and the original NSX Honda has a more long lasting appeal.

Nissan GT-R - $110 grand here in Canada.
Audi R8 4.2 - $134 grand.
Audi R8 5.2 - $173 grand.
Audi R8 GT - $228 grand.
Ferrari 458 - $265 grand.
Lexus LFA - $375 grand.
I'm very curious where the final NSX price-tag will fall in that list.
And yes, I agree about the looks of the GT-R. It's kinda' like a high profile mob enforcer... by no means pretty, but every bulge and lump has a deadly purpose.

I'll set the money line on the price point for the NSX at $155K.
