Royal Caribbean International floated out the largest cruiseship in the world today. The "Oasis of the Seas" was floated from the drydock at the STX Europe yard in Finland (formerly the AkerYards). When she is finished she will weigh in at an impressive 220,000 GRT.
You can see some of the preparations being made just prior to the floatout. http://www.oasisoftheseas.com/gallery.php |

The keel of the Allure of the Seas, the sister to Oasis of the Seas for cruise brand Royal Caribbean International, was laid yesterday I think it was. She is due for 2010 while her just launched sister, Oasis is due for Novemeber 2009.

About a month is left before "Oasis of the Seas" is completed. She is being finished a bit ahead of shedule. She will be an amazing vessel once fully finished.

Well P&O's "Oceana" originally built as "Ocean Princess"for Princess cruises, is not a new ship but I just came across that she was caught in a storm of some sort. The protective casing covering her starboard side SAT COM satelite was blown off! Wind must have been really blowing for that to happen. Here is a link to a pic. http://picasaweb.google.com/AuroraPartyCruiseSueV/OceanaStormDamageSept09?authkey=Gv1sRgCKWY5fLNttiR 2gE#5378315033696989314
Are the satcom 'ball's on yachts any stronger? Or they would be blown away in the same manner?

This turned up the evening of the first day of Southampton Boat Show (Friday)......an exhibitors boat or two were understandably moved out of the way to let her in.

Hi,
It is the size that attracts the flies.
Note the smaller one piece domes seemed to have escaped unscathed.

I guess so then K!W! However, I one of the other pics I saw, the gauge metal seems to be rather thick. I thought that they were very 'thin' metal.

Sure it was under 200 kb but I believe this is wider than 640 pixels. I have a 22 inch monitor and I had to scroll a bit to see the entire pic.
