That should be Stefan Johansson in TWR Porsche. He won Le Mans in '97 with Alboreto and Kristensen.

Gotacha! Team mate of Alboreto, winning in 1997 in a TWR Porsche WSC95, drove in Formula 1 for McLaren in 1987 where his best race was a close 2nd to team mate Alain Prost at Spa, and drove for Ferrari the previous 2 years where his best race was also a 2nd position at Montreal 1985, this time behind the driver he partenered the winning Porsche at Le Mans in 1997 with.

Is that any closer?

Good job Jon, and Vader too!

Stefan is now driving various cars on events around the globe together with some other ex-formula 1 drivers. He is hoping to get the new Audi to a private team for the next Le Mans, but it still remains to be seen.

The Audi R10 is to be presented on Dec 13 at Le Musée de l'Homme / Le Palais de Chaillot (Trocadéro) in Paris. It is rumoured to be a coupé with a twin turbo V10 or V12 diesel (!) engine. Fuel economy is of course important in endurance races.

His co-drivers would be Kenny Bräck and Mattias Ekström. This could well be a winning team, all Swedes...

The diesel part is old news... Audi's technical director nearly confirmed it himself just by the look on his face when he was interviewed at Sebring this past March. I hadn't heard about the coupé part though... interesting.

Heheh... nice new title for this thread. We definitely needed an entirely off-topic, "say whatever you want as long as it's decent" type thread just for chatting and killing time at the office.

I'm sorry, i can't understand a sentence using the words 'V10', 'V12' and 'fuel economy' when talking about the same thing! lol

Well, it's just a little quiet... no press-releases, no new launches... nothing to talk about. I noticed the same last year too... not a lot going on in Novemeber and December except post-FLIBS chatter.

On another note, Carl... I'm still having trouble with the "go to first unread post" feature. For a while now, certain threads never update my position in the thread as to where I've read up to. Like in this thread for example, whenever I click the little blue icon that should take me to the first unread post, I get the first post on the first page, no matter what. Other threads load me up right where I left off the last time. It's totally random, I haven't found any pattern to it at all. And it happens on both my home and office computers.

Diesel was the Key-word..

This is also what they expect as compared to the other teams petrol engines. You get a lighter car or fewer fuel stops, eventhough I am not familiar with the rules regarding this.

And regarding this off-topic thread, I think Carl is about to create a corner of the YachtForums where members can also discuss not strictly yacht-related themes.

Kevin, there are still a few bugs with different browsers and Carl is trying to sort them out. Good that you report though!

Too bad about the sounds... the R8 was never the best sounding car in a field anyways, the R10... ugh, I shudder to think. All I can imagine is a farm-tractor at high RPMs.

There's already been talk of limiting any diesel powered car to smaller tanks, thus immediately gating any advantage they may have had. Smaller tanks means less fuel weight, but since LMP cars still need to maintain a minimum weight, ballast wil be added.

Seems as you are still sleeping...

Scroll back and you have more on what he is doing. He is sharing his time between Monaco and Los Angeles when not driving race cars. He has been driving in South Africa and Australia the last couple of weeks...

I've noticed exactly the same problem Kevin.
