Hi, I am new to this forum and fairly new to the boating world. I just bought my first yacht, a 2007 Fairline Phantom 48 and I will take delivery of her next March.
I am located in Egypt and I will ship the boat from the UK to a port in Egypt, most probably the port of Suez.
I would appreciate it if somebody can assist me in providing me with the shipping firms which can execute the shipment of the boat from the UK to Egypt. Ofcourse Fairline have their shippers, but I would like to have a second option.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Thanks, I just went quickly through their website, but did not see any transportation to Egypt. The closest was Turkey. I will send them an iquiry through their email.
    Thanks again.

    Hi,

    Welcome to Yacht Forums.

I would say as you are not trying to ship your yacht to a well known "milk run" port you may well have to resort to the Fairline shippers or to another specialist shipper such as:

    http://www.boats.com/boat-transport/index.jsp

http://www.petersandmay.com/co/14350 -These guys are a well known freight Co in the UK with a good reputation.

    http://www.completefreight.com/?gclid=CK2vkI-ni4oCFR0GZwodtn5Xdw

You could also ask Fairline for a detailed proposal and then contact the Co directly alter your details slightly- say you are a friend of someone who is shipping one and you have one yourself you want to ship. You might be able to get a better deal that way.

Someone from there might also read this and try to gouge you so be alert at all times. If it seems to good to be true then it probably is.

Make sure whoever you use has a verifiable history- ask for and check references from so called satisfied customers. Make sure they have the correct insurance and licences for hauling your boat through wherever they are going to haul it if going by road.

Do you have all your paperwork sorted out for importing it to Egypt? It is often easier to arrive somewhere on a boat than to have the boat arrive onboard another one or a truck.

I hope haven't put you off, I would just like to make sure you are aware that there is a lot more to some of these things than meets the eye.

    Good Luck and Happy Cruising.

    shipment into Port of Suez

check with Maersk Egypt. Maersk has a direct service into Port of Suez. If you give me your contact details, I can ask them to contact you directly.

You'll probably find that Fairline use Peters & May anyways

Thanks :), I will see what Fairline has to offer and at the same time do my homework.
I am registering the boat under British flag through a company I have in the BVIs, so that should help avoiding a lot of unnecessary paperwork over here.

Just submitted some online inquiries. Will wait for the replies and let you know. At the same time I will request Fairline to submitt a transport offer to compare.
    Thanks for the advice :)

Welcome to yacht forums and congratualtions on your Fairline!

Can you say why you chose the Fairline and what else you considered? Also would be great to hear a review from you when you start to use it.

    Once again, congratualtions.

    Thank you Ian.

I looked at all boats in this category. Fairline, Sunseeker, Azimut, Princess, Ferretti and many other names. They are all ofcourse beautiful boats. I wanted a flybridge boat. I could not resist my attraction to the new 2007 Fairline Phantom 48. This model has just been launched. Currently there are only two boats sold worldwide. Mine and the boat which was exhibited in the boat show in Germany last week. Her shape and design suited me. In my opinion her designer really succeeded in designing a flawless boat. The design is very modern, her lines are very smooth and sleek. The interior is very well laid out and very modern. The finish is impeccable.
I was very lucky I guess to be able to secure and purchase the 1st of the Phantom 48`s. She has a huge list of extras as it is used as a flagship to show off all of the possible options.

    Regards,

Don't know if this will help but I thought I would submit this for your consideration. Here is a web site that links buyers with the nation's largest shipping services. Check it out at http://www.uship.com
