| 90m renders
Had a bit of time recently to start updating my portfolio, so I set about modelling up a 90m yacht.
Used Rhino for all the modelling apart from the props which were done in Modo.
I tried out some simple white background 'toon' looking renders as well, think they came out quite nice, will probably use this style for future design reviews.
Comment and crits most welcome. |

Yes,...I agree very nice indeed.
Sleek yet agressive!
I'd like to see that built.
I like the addition of silver on the upper bulwark/coaming to cut down the height.
The renderings look so real!
Any plans for a bulbous bow or stabilizers?

Thanks guys!
I ashamedly didn't model a bulbous bow just to make it easy on myself.. <hangs head in shame>
Brian, can you point me in the right direction to learn about size/placement of stabilisers? Unfortunately I don't get involved with much below the waterline usually.
Glad you like the style! I was trying to develop something clean, sleek and modern. It looked pretty good in profile but feel it's turned out a little too much like a classic Feadship (that's not a bad thing I suppose, but a little off of what I was trying to achieve). I've got a soft spot for the Italian yachts like Cantieri di Pisa/Baglietto/San Lorenzo and was trying to use the same kind of long flowing lines. I'll make another attempt when time allows!

Those are very sexy renderings; what software are you using for that, if I may ask?
The lighting and materials/shaders are absolutely spot on.
The design is great too, not my preferred style, but still a very smart, refined aesthetic.

I'm not an authority on stabilizer placements. Maybe a naval architect can chime in here, but I have seen them typically midships at the bilge/chine area

| Nicely detailed! In my always ever so humble opinion the front half is more successful than the back. The back looks like standard issue wedding cake, except for the swimming pool. I can understand hot tubs or spas on a yacht, but I would keep full size pools on cruise ships.

Brian - think I'll do some serious googling and see what I can find. There's bound to be something out there.
Kelly - Thanks. Yep, I guess the 10m swimming pool is a personal preference thing. I can see your point about the back end too. I'll have to come up with a few more ideas to try and make it look more 'interesting'.
Brunick - Thanks. No interior renderings at the moment. What area would you like to see - owners suite or main salon? or maybe sky lounge? So, if I render the interior you'll promise to build it? |

brunick - I'll start with the owners suite first, while you get on with building your multinational business empire
ngd - yeah, could probably shift the aft overhangs fwd a little. I think the angle of my sun doesn't help. Look forward to seeing your design/render!

Beautifully modelled and nicely rendered. I like it a lot.
Not a criticism, just wondering where the engine room is and if you've allowed for air in / out and main engine exhaust ?

Many thanks Codog, engine room will be below the set of windows fwd of the garage doors. Engine room air in/out vents are located pretty much in the middle of the boat on the main and owners decks. Unfortunately these low res renders don't give you much definition, but the vents show up as the dark black patches next to the windows on these decks. Haven't given much thought to exhaust though. May have to thicken up the mast area to get the exhausts up there.
Just completed the first render of the owners suite.... more to come later on.. |
