Lars,

The more I look at these powerboats the more I want one! They seem capable of going out in any weather, true 4x4s of the sea! Let me know if you need someone to test them over here in the US!

The evolution of the 50-footer continues. Here is a recent rendering where the aft deck will be more liveable. One problem now is that the IPS-850 is bigger than I expected, over 3m (10 feet) long! Also that the new drive will need more space to turn without hitting the inner hull, so I may have to abandon this special hull, or the IPS....

Perhaps a 50 footer in this style is just not meant to be if the compromises required have too high a cost.

Maybe, maybe not..? With Arneson drives we will reach the 40 knots cruising speed, but at least here, people have problems running them. They go too fast when you go slow...

I will meet with Volvo Penta after next week when they are back from the US to find out what can be done. The boat should not be longer than 14,9 m due to driving certificate requirements in certain countries and if it would be longer it should need to have crew accommodations.

So it is a size with few power options for high speed and low fuel consumption.

As Solar sails are now getting closer to reality i have added an extra mast to the 46 m NEO classic power-sailer. Still mainly for sailing in sun and open winds, it reminds us of the steam-sailers 100 years ago.

Almost, but 3,5 m, which is allowing her to slip over most Caribbean reefs. As she is not rigged for tacking, a long keel will make her sail pretty well. In ports the azipods will make her easy to handle.

I prefer the 50 with the reverse window, just has more cut to it in my opinion.
All the designs look awesome, I have been lurking through the posts for a while and must say you have an impressive eye for flash but with subdued traits if that is a possible description.

Thanks Mark, there is actually a huge difference in designing a one-off versus a production boat. The latter is to maintain a brand and as said before, this can be done by keeping a signature style.

Right now I will also start with a 75-footer and I think the 50' and the 75' should be close to each other in style, when I find it...

75 foot - that's a long way to go with style of the 40/50 foot boats - waiting for first drawings

maybe with a raised pilothouse?

Lars, my preference for the reverse windscreen is because the company that built our units custom response rhib builds that style for a number of reasons, some of which you have already stated in previous post. You are right about the signature look, and IMHO your designs, the 25 33 40 etc have a rakish look, clean but serious

This is the rhib they built for the unit, the windscreen is not reverse on this vessel and actually the unit has a new vessel which I havent operated yet as I am on leave.

Yes Jannick, we will see what's next. Anyway, we have clients asking for them and we have expanded our factory to be able to build them. So I have to speed up the design job a little now...
