For those interested in how a new concept is developed, I will post the process of a yachts profile I started to draw today. In this particular case I don´t even know the size, but it looks like it will be around 45 to 55 m / 150-180 feet.
My intention is to make it a contemporary classic. We will see in a couple of days and I will post the development in this thread every now and then until I think she looks OK... Welcome back!

Since I early got the idea of a crows nest looking aft, as an observation lounge and with a docking station, I thought I had to complete it. Otherwise I quite often use the term "kill your darlings" and remove this kind of dominating features after a while...
Anyway, here we go and since she can not be called a classic either I decided to make a red hull and add som stainless trim. So this time it wasn´t too many considerations and...

...here is the result in a larger scale. She became 55 m / 180 feet in the end.

Let´s do this again some time and you are welcome to suggest what kind of yacht it should be

My next one will be a "Lars Modin"!

A 30M powercat, salon, dining & master on main deck, 2 guest sr in one hull, 1 crew sr plus hotel infrastructure in the second one.
Crisp lines, easy to build structures, comfort before sexy looks.
Large fly for outdoors life, so important in the Med.
Tender on hydraulic platform.
15kts cruising, that's all - you see so much more on a slow boat!

Here is my first attempt in designing a Power Catamaran yacht for TRY.
It is not based on his 30 m plan as above but could serve as a guide for a line of TRY cats in different sizes. This is a 160 feet / 49 m expedition style yacht, also having the platform that can be elevated down as a beach for landing tenders and toys in between the hulls.
Is the market ready for big powercats or what do you think?

That day might be closer than we think since a member at this excellent Forum, a model maker, is interested in building a 1:50 radio controlled model of the 70 meter Explorer yacht Polara. The plan is to have her launched already next spring!
That would be much better than any 3D-rendering I think!

As an exception I made a small 3D rendering since it can be difficult to imagine that the yacht above is a Catamaran. From this angle you´ll see it better and she doesn´t look so high any longer. She is 49 m long and about 17 m wide!

Yes, very creative and quality work.
Especially like that one with the aft observation deck.
Do you have another design house assist with the underwater hull form (testing, etc?).
In another life, I would have liked to have been an car designer or naval architect,..., lucky you!
Can you contemplate a rendering which combines Swedish and Italian design sensibilities?

What I think I can do best is what is called styling and the general accommodation plan (GA). If a client should like a subdued and contemporary interior design I can do that too.

What I am not so very interested in is the hull parameters and the engineering of the build. There are many naval architects and engineers out there, often linked to the shipyard who in the end will be responsible for the construction anyway.

Most fun is to get the puzzle together in a way that satisfies both the buyer, the crew and the shipyard. A yacht that is easy to love, to live and to build.

I don´t know if we have "national" styles on yachts any longer? In Italy they build "down-east" style boats as well as in the US you build European style. If you take Wally-yachts, they look more Scandinavian than Italian, and Windy from Norway has an Italian style...

But I got your point, the right mix of Scandinavian and Italian design will be a timeless beauty
