SECOND LIMITED EDITIONS AMELS 171 LAUNCHED
Wide-body model shows custom series flexibility
Vlissingen, The Netherlands: AMELS, a world leader in the art of custom yacht building and member of the Damen Shipyards Group, announces delivery to her owners of the second ground-breaking 52.30-meter LIMITED EDITIONS AMELS 171.
LIMITED EDITIONS were introduced at the 2005 Monaco Yacht Show, when AMELS demonstrated an architectural concept that clients may freely customize, then take delivery of an AMELS-quality custom yacht in much less time.
As designed by Tim Heywood, this white-hulled AMELS 171 is significantly different from her dark-blue sister DENIKI, a visual demonstrations of the LIMITED EDITIONS program’s great flexibility. For example, her sun deck is re-configured to include a central Jacuzzi. And her highly customized bridge deck is expanded to full-beam to create a wide-body version. The enlarged bridge-deck lounge is further enhanced by addition of a third window per side.
Of equal significance, the light-toned contemporary interior styling by Laura Sessa Romboli reflects the original LIMITED EDITIONS concept. (DENIKI’s interior is custom-designed by Peter Heuvelmans.) Sessa Romboli’s styling makes artistic use of a number of rare, fine joinery woods, wonderful fabrics, and a variety of appealing textures, the sum of which is an interior decor that is sunny, refreshing, and comfortably homelike.
After completion of sea trials, which by virtue of experience required half the time of DENIKI’s, this second AMELS 171 sailed smoothly to the Mediterranean for a three-week maiden cruise with her owners aboard. Her very experienced captain reported his great satisfaction this way: “The owners where delivered a first-class Dutch-built motoryacht that I am very proud to be Captain of. It’s quite amazing to experience the crowds that gather on the quayside to watch as we pull into our berth.
