A New 120’ Grows Horizon’s Yacht Roster

The design for the new Horizon Premier 120-foot raised pilothouse motor yacht was born from the need to satisfy Horizon’s ever-increasing international client roster with a sleek, but voluminous yacht built on a generous beam and given well-appointed accommodations. The new yacht fills a gap in Horizon's megayacht lineup. For this new model, Horizon-Premier turned to designer/stylist JC Espinosa, of Stuart, Florida, who is responsible for the design of the successful new Horizon Premier 130’ Tri-Deck motor yachts.

To ensure safety in operation, the Horizon Premier 120 raised pilothouse motor yacht will be built to full classification certification by Det Norske Veritas (DNV). The design criterion and construction standards are in compliance with HSLC (High Speed Light Craft) Rule with +1A1 R1, Yacht Notation and MCA LY2 Code.

The strict and extensive supervision by DNV includes examination and verification of drawings covering Structure, Machinery, Electricity, Stability, Fire and Safety, and Navigation Electronics before construction. Each major piece of equipment is also checked for Type Approval and Working Certificate prior to installation. On-site surveyors provide full time inspection in the shipyard throughout the construction process and on to sea trials to make sure the entire building phase is in accordance with the regulations and standards of DNV Classification. As with all the Horizon yachts, the Horizon Premier 120RPH utilizes patented SCRIMP resin-infusion technology to build the hull with less weight, superior strength and impeccable finish.

With the addition of DNV classification and MCA LY2 compliance, our goal with the 120 RPH is to not only guarantee our owners a completely reliable and safe vessel, greatly reducing their yacht insurance costs and increasing the yacht’s eventual resale value, but to go beyond their expectations for megayachts of this type and volume.

A generous beam of 26’ 2” (7.98M) provided the designer, with sufficient space to accommodate four guest staterooms with ensuite bathrooms on the lower deck. This accommodation area is linked to the main deck by an innovative atrium stairway. In the style of megayachts, the owner’s stateroom is located forward on the main deck, guaranteeing privacy. This stateroom opens to a large owner’s bathroom a half-level below.

Aft of the master stateroom, the main deck space flows into the large and well appointed salon and dining room, which in turn leads to a large aft deck suited and furnished for alfresco dining. It is important to note that all of the windows in the main salon have been made as large as possible so as to open the view to the sea. Behind the raised pilothouse is the expansive flying bridge, large enough to accommodate parties for dining or relaxing by the hot tub, or enjoy a refreshing drink from the well designed bar.

A suitable crew quarters, which are located aft, consists of three double cabins with their respective bathrooms, as well as a crew mess/lounge. The fully enclosed tender garage, is big enough for a 19’ 8” (6M) tender, and is located aft of the crew area. One of the special design and engineering features worthy of special note is a clever elevator/swim step that helps deploy the tender as well as provide divers with safe and easy access to the water.
