Floating Yacht Club...

It seems some interest is being generated by this idea. Although an offshore yacht club (sorta speak) is planned for the US west coast, it would be interesting to get some feedback from some of our east coast captains and owners. What are your thoughts on this concept?

This sparked my interest, what do you mean by "offshore", as in international waters or a 1/2 mile out?. Any more information would be appreciated, as I don't quite see any benefits to it, outside a gaming hangout or a pirate clubhouse.

Sorry that I have been off-line for a while due to the actual construction of the Floating Yacht Club vessel, named Pacific Provider, as well as an expedition/shadow yacht for the owner of a 50 meter yacht - both in Seattle.

The floating yacht club concept, envisioned by Tom Ellsworth of Ellsworth Marine in San Diego, was developed to support his large fleets of sportfishers in which he specializes. He is the largest Riviera dealer on the coast.

The EPYC (Eastern Pacific Yacht Club) will eventually feature 5 floating yacht club branches for members only. They are designed to be a mothership for the sportfish set as they venture up and down the coast. Positioned strategically in Baja, Puerto Vallarta, Costa Rica and Panama; the SFs will be able to make runs between the support ships to take fuel, get mechanical repairs, sleep in a luxury guest suite, enjoy the big screen TV in the bar/lounge and dine in the classy restaurant. Data links for internet and Sat TV are installed to keep in touch or to be entertained. During the summer the yacht club ships will be spread north up to the Pacific Northwest and Alaska, moving from Mexico to the Galapagos in the winter.

But even more exciting is that you do not need to own a sportfish to join the club which includes 28 days of advance reserved guest cabin use which includes all of the amenities plus 2 X 38 foot game boats, jet skis, water skiing, diving, sailing, or just lounging on the sun deck spa with a cold one.

Arrival and departure by helicopter makes this the ultimate luxury yachting experience at a fraction of the cost of owning a boat. And if you are lucky enough to have a yacht, you can pull up to the Pacific Provider and plug into shore power in your Med moor position of the stern quarter.

I do not think anything was missed as we have collaborated to make this a great destination experience.

Again, my apologies for not responding sooner in support of my client's unique and exciting concept.

Best to all, Stan
