Thanks for being a fan However posting a modified design here could cause another hairsplit, is it yours or mine if somebody would like to build it?

Making redesigns of existing yachts is different since the original designer is already paid and may want to participate in another project if the owner has not bought the exclusive rights.

Which design is it that you have "customized"?

The Polara. I did it mainly for fun as I cannot afford a yacht but I can see your point about potential problems if a third party tries to copy parts of the modified design.

Polara is maybe not so unique, except for the diamond shaped elevator going from the bridge deck to the crows nest. But I still think it is better that you keep your design for yourself to avoid interpretations on what is the original concept and what is yours.

I actually made a special edition myself last Christmas

Lars you have the satisfaction of having designed a much more modern yacht. The other one looks dated compared to yours. At any rate I hope you can stop this piracy.

Don't let Lars down, please!

This thread had slipped too far down.
Don't forget that Lars was victim of a counterfeit that could hit all designers in these forums, all manufacturers of specific products, all builders of small and large pleasure boats.
This is perhaps a unique opportunity to show the might and the strength of a virtual but well-decided online community!

So all of you, 5000+ members of these great forums, unite and defend Lars!
Do it now!

Diabolika

...silly game the one played by Sensation and didn't taking in account to be discovered so soon but what about diabolika yacht series?
I discovered them at the recent Genoa International Boat Show thinking that it's quite difficult to try to hide when you copy... the 118' wallypower!

Really? Would be interesting to see a copy of the Wally 118...! Where is it built?

In Australia they have at least the same design- and copyright laws as most of the developed countries why Sensation should know better http://www.copyright.org.au/

China use to copy western goods, but their latest achievement was not appreciated by Daimler-Chrysler, the Chinese version of the Smart car!

Almost an exact copy aimed at the European market. It will now be stopped at the door and Daimler-Chrysler will probably be able to stop the production in China as well. The website has already removed all pictures, but since they have sold a couple of cars in Europe we know how it looks and that it is electric driven.

Should it be so hard to pay a designer to give you a unique design??

Geez... they could have at least pretended to make a new design by changing a few lines, maybe reshape the head/tail-lights, etc.

Lars,
Any new feedbacks from Sensation Yachts?
Are we going to let them get away with this?

I have got quite a lot of information. This is all I can say today and of course my intention is to stop the project.

Meanwhile, thanks a lot for the support from so many of the YachtForums members!

Here's a few

- send an email to Mr Ivan Erceg on ivan@sensation.co.nz and tell straightforward what you think of them.
- they'll probably be showing again their model at FLIBS. Lots of forum members will visit, just stop and tell them there's only 16 blind guys so far against more than 100 supporters of Lars' design.

As I said before, this is of concern to lots of people, not only Lars!

Actually, there are LESS than 16 blind men. I just checked the server and the last 6-7 "guests" that voted were from a similar IP address. I've implemented a global change that will prevent this from happening again.

That's actually a good omen!

If the "blind" guys apparently cheat, that means that the "blind" guys feel they're losing ground!
Or, maybe it's only one single "blingd" guy!

As I suggested: make our opinion known directly, tell them off!
