Is it possible?

I've just found one of the craziest designs I've ever seen!

http://www.boatdesign.net/gallery/sh...o/3533/cat/505

Yep, it's a heli-hangar on a sailyacht!

A landing platform is certainly possible, such as this one on Alloy's "Tiara"...

As for a hangar, I'm sure it's possible, but it may not be ideal for a sailboat. Maintaining a low center of gravity plays an essential role in performance.

As long as the helicopter is lowered through a trap door to a hanger below deck I would think it's feasible. Such as seen on Ilona -

To get the hanger under this huge platform is not really possible and who would like to have a sailing yacht looking like this?? http://www.boatdesign.net/gallery/sh...500/ppuser/503
Better to have a Shadow boat then...

But then you're defeating the purpose of having a blow-boat to begin with!

I agree that the installation shown in the GLAMARE rendering is instant rogue gallery material! But give up the grand dinning deck on the stern and I still think it could be done. Not that I would want such a "feature" on a yacht of my own. But the question was about "feasibility".

The hangar is not under but in front of the platform

I'm agree. This is the real handicap of the design.

I can't imagine how the designers will solve this problem

Given the possibility of a trap door system like on Ilona, the final storage position of the helicopter can be low, inside the hull. The resulting layout will eat up all of the stern space in the yacht, but if you want this bad enough .....

die hard Kelly

On this sailing ship, larger than Athena, displacing well over 1.000 tonnes, I think the weight of the helicopter is not that important as long as it is not landing on top of a mast. A Long Ranger is just about 950-1000 kg. The platform is probably more heavy...
