Hi,

Welcome to Yacht Forums.

When you are working on a boat you are working in the country the boat is registered. Most boats that hire crew in Antibes are registered outside the European Union.

You can travel to France etc as a visitor and then when you get on a boat you don't need any different visa for the European countries you are likely to visit while you stay on that boat. Once you are in France you are in the Schengen group of countries so there is no passport checks between borders anyway.

Living ashore is a whole different scenario. I think you can stay in Europe for 6 months in 12 but in 2 x 3 month stints. I know the Poms are tightening up against the Kiwis but don't know if this is also being applied to the Aussies as well.

Yes

Yes, Antibes is the place to be. There are no jobs available in the US. Have you considered Dubai?

Hi,

Has anyone notified the Crew Agencies who keep advertising vacancies for jobs on boats that are in the US?

I don’t know about that. I was at the Miami boat show and i could have gotten a job without a problem. Antibes is a good place but don’t be misled there is a lot of competition for jobs there; you should see the crowds of day workers standing around just to get day work. I look at Crew agencies on a regular basis and a lot of jobs that are offered are in the States.
