Yeah so I've been sleeping on my cash for 6 months.

It just piles and piles up. What I want to do is get an international bank account but I don't know enough about it.

In a perfect world, I'd be able to walk up to an ATM anywhere in the world and deposit the money into this offshore account. The Canadian government would have no idea what's going on. I could pay bills in Canada through autmatic debit from this account. I could withdraw cash from this account anywhere in the world.

Oh yeah, one more thing. I would also be able to do internet banking and apply for a mortgage using the bank details.. maybe even apply to my own offshore bank for a mortgage??

Is any of this stuff possible?

It is very simple, but don´t count on that your government will not be able to find out about it if they so like.
What you need is not only an account but an accountant that is arranging a structure which is legal with your situation.

If your still in San Remo, just drive to Switzerland. They have these institutions called "Swiss Banks". Walk in and tell them what you want. You may have to have your wages paid by direct deposit, otherwise it all should be regular business.

I think that covers the ATM part, a mortgage is different, when you want to buy a house if you have a substantial deposit, mortgage companies like you.

Hey thanks for reminding me.

I'll be in Switz in a week snowboarding. I'll try to walk in a bank and make it happen.

I will see if I can get my payments in my home country can pull dough out of that account from now on.

Are there any reasons I would rather use a Swiss bank instead of BVI or equiv.?

Hi,

I am of the understanding that to have a Swiss Bank Account you need a Swiss address.

There are facilitators who can arrange this for you but be aware they come at a real premium to put it mildly.

Not difficult to do even from Canada. Check with your bank in Canada for it's correspondent banks in other countries. If you are out of the country for more than 6 months of the year the rules change as to the treatment of revenues generated offshore. Sit down with a good accountant.
If you wish to accomplish "The Canadian government would have no idea what's going on." the landscape has changed significantly over the past few years including with the Swiss.
