I'm looking for a second stewardess right now, so this email was especially entertaining to me as I wade through a stack of resumes. Quote:
I can cook, paint, wash linens, and I have a 100k gallon master rinser license. I can navigate my way out of a fuel spill. I have excellent face book skills, know how to send txt via sms, I do not lol too much, and omg! did I tell you about my new gf? I would send a resume but not sure if I should include a photo or not? Should it include a photo of my gf,? I can dive under the yacht at night to remove shark teeth from the bow thruster all in one breath. I have extensive skills in the wax on wax off department, better at removing… as I wax off all the time! Unless my gd gf is around. I get along well with other crew, or just call the boss and tell him all the dirty secrets I know. You can still be the captain, but I get to pick my days off. I want rotation, and will not share a cabin. I drink a lot when I go out, and will want to sleep in late so don’t plan on any maintenance until around 11am. I promise not to bring illegal drugs aboard, too often. Can you pay me 13 months for 12? I need to be paid in cash as I keep an account in the lower keys that only accepts cash. My last captain let me stay in the master cabin when the boss was not on board, can you offer the same benefits? I will need to fly to marinas instead of doing crossings, as I get a little queasy at times. Please have my new secretary arrange for business class – special meals also. For the boat car, I prefer a large suv, so I will need a gas card as well. Please send one month salary in advance as a signing bonus to let me know you are serious.
It will be a pleasure to have you work for me…
Todays crew, Deckie!

PM sent with contact info.
If you don't hire him sight unseen, we will!
He's actually a step up from some day help we brought on last year as a cleaning crew for a few days work. |

To think how foolish we were when we started out, I would have taken a job for almost nothing, just for the opportunity to work on a boat and get some experience.
Not to sound like an old fart, but I do miss the old days! It just seems it was alot more fun! To think people actually did this job because they loved being on boats and the ocean.

I didn't mean to be misleading- but this was a completely fictitious email that I received from a friend. While it may display the sentiment of some deckies out there, it was all made up by someone with way too much time on their hands.

You do the job because you 'love being on boats' and I'll take the pay. Perfect partnership we'll have there. |
