WestBay SonShip 50' Pilothouse Preview

Delta, BC – West Bay SonShip Yachts is pleased to introduce the all new West Bay SonShip 50 Pilothouse motor yacht.

The West Bay SonShip 50 Pilothouse was developed in response to what West Bay felt was a need in the market for a luxury motor yacht in the 50-55ft size range that met the demanding quality expectations of West Bay's discerning clientele. The new model will appeal equally to discriminating yachting enthusiasts who are considering moving up to a larger yacht, as well as to those already experienced with larger yacht ownership and operation. Like all West Bay yachts, the West Bay SonShip 50 Pilothouse was designed for comfort, performance, ease of use, safety and style. And, like all West Bay yachts, the West Bay SonShip 50 Pilothouse is built with West Bay's renowned craftsmanship and passionate attention to detail.

With 37 years of boatbuilding experience, and more than 150 yachts launched to date, West Bay SonShip Yachts has defined the art of pilothouse yacht design and construction. The West Bay SonShip 50 Pilothouse features two staterooms and two heads, with an optional third stateroom layout. Designed in a cooperative association among West Bay's in-house design team and Gregory C. Marshall Naval Architects, the West Bay SonShip 50 Pilothouse's hull is a cored-fiberglass, modified Vee, planing hull configuration with propeller tunnels for efficient
flow of water past the rudders, and a shallow keel for stability, smooth turning and straight tracking.

Powered by twin Caterpillar C-9 503 hp diesel inboard engines, the West Bay SonShip 50 Pilothouse is expected to achieve a top speed of 24 knots, and is expected to cruise at 20 knots. An option to upgrade to Caterpillar C-12 700 hp engines is available.

Walk-around decks with raised bulwarks, molded-in stairs to the command bridge, an aft-deck flush with the salon, and separate stairs from the salon to the master stateroom are all features that are expected to appeal to individuals, couples and boating families who are in the market for an exceptional quality luxury motor yacht in the 50-55ft size range.

Hull no. 1 will launch in December, 2004. Following commissioning and sea trials, this yacht will be transported to Florida where she will be exhibited at the Miami Yacht & Brokerage Show in February, 2005. Hull no. 2 will be exhibited at the Lake Union Boats Afloat Show in Seattle, WA in January, 2005.

West Bay SonShip Yachts, Canada’s premiere builder of luxury custom fiberglass motor yachts, was founded in 1967 by Ben and Leidy Vermeulen. Through quality, commitment and service, West Bay SonShip Yachts proudly brings to life the yachting dreams of its customers.
