Many yacht enthusiasts and workers of the industry would collectively agree that the Wally 148 is a well anticipated launch. The Wally 148, is designed as a blue water (open ocean) sailing yacht that contains the attributes of a high performance sailer.
She follows up on the well executed lines of the Wally 143 also known as s/y Esense, drawing on a design of the Tripp design group. The interior and styling is done by Eidsgaard Design. She is being built by Wally in Europe.
This 150 ton act of engineering will be home to 8 guests and 6 crew. The accomodation plan features a lavish Owner's suite that encompases a queen bed, office, ensuite and and dressing room. The guest cabins will be broken down as follows, Guest Cabin with sizable bed as well as pulman coupled with ensuite head and shower.
Another Guest Cabin features 2 beds and an ensuite head and shower. The other Guest Cabin features double beds with ensuite head and shower as well.
Crew wise, the Captain will have a double bed with ensuite head and shower. The other crew will be accomodated in two 2 pulman bed cabins both with ensuite heads and showers. Four crew will be housed in these two cabins or however the configuration is to be altered.
The Wally 148 is being constructed from composite materials. The rig of the 148 will encompass swept behind spreaders with no running back stays. The Mast and Boom is to be of Hi Modulus Carbon while the rigging is PBO. Sail wise, the main sail will be in boom furled. There will be a furling jib as well. The total sail area is estimated at 10,882 SQFT ensuring she catches every breeze.
According to Tripp Design, the Wally 148 is scheduled for launch in Fall 2007, so we can soon look out for her.
