Dubois designed 46-meter Sloop for Vitters
Last year we informed you about a new sloop that is in build at the moment for Vitters shipyard. If you don't know who Vitters is as yet, they are the Dutch yacht builder responsible for outstanding sailing yachts like "Marie", "LadyB", "Sarissa", "Adele", "Nirvana" and so on.
Additionally they have their hands on a new project, a 46-meter performance cruising sloop that has been designed by Dubois Naval Architects. This aluminium performance cruiser with hull number 3067 will carry a powerful rig, including a 62-meter TPT* (Thin Ply Technology) laminated carbon mast ensuring an optimized weight and strength ratio. Also her fully tank tested hull shape, lifting keel and sleek profile are signs of the performance-focus of this custom yacht.
The fixed carbon bimini top with vertical sliding windows are remarkable features on-deck. With the windows raised, the cockpit area ensuring comfort in colder parts of the world. And when sailing warmer seas, the deckhouse with the main companionway opened will be beautifully connected to the cockpit, creating an unexpectedly spacious living area.
The design and styling is also by Dubois Naval Architects. The interior is by New Cruise Design. The 46-meter long yacht will have a beam spacious of 9-meters at her widest point. Her draft with keel down is approximately 6.5-meters and 4.5-meters with it up. Accommodation is for guests in three similar sized cabins and the owner, in a full-beam Master suite. That Thin Ply Technology (TPT*) carbon mast is by Southern Spars. For power, she will be carrying a CAT C-18 C engine.
The Alustar hull is currently under construction at Gouwerok in the Netherlands and will arrive at Vitters in April 2012 for Vitters to complete. Overall, the new Vitters 46-meter performance cruiser is due for completion in 2013. For more information:
