ID this woodie...

couple of months ago, i came across this old woodie at Bucksport Marina on the Waccamaw River, south of Myrtle Beach.

still afloat, barely and a sad sight but she must have been gorgeous in her days.

wonder what it is... looks very much like the 1961 Grebe pictured in an another thread.

The hull flare and straight sheer line kind of reminds me of a PT boat. Conversion perhaps ?

Not a Pacemaker. Not a Trumpy. Could be a Grebe, could be a Stephens perhaps. Or, ?

She looks like this boat, which is a John Alden.

Bow flare looks Pacemaker, but, I think the rest is a modification of something else..??

I'll have to do some thinking. The boat was offered to me about 6 years ago. It was a one of a kind by a major manufacturer. The Weaver Bros. who owned the marine had it. Call Bucksport Marine and ask for any of the Weavers.

I keep coming up with a prototype Chris Craft Sportsfisher.

Grebe?

Don't think this is a Grebe, I worked for them 1956-63 and Grebe used round portholes forward of the Main Salon. Would have to look at the bow to really make a determination, but this is a sad example of lack of care and attention to style. The hand built boats we did in the 50's and 60s were works of art almost Picasso's or Renoir's , though my contribution as a teenager doing small tasks, learning the art of boat building, fancy rope work for a few, and taking customers around the city of Chicago, were not much.
Warm regards,
Donk
