My 38 had the factory installed rope only Ideal windlass. Very nautical looking and pretty strong but a mess and a PIA to deal with.

For anyone who still has this setup, Ideal makes a rope/chain model that will fit the same hole with one additional hole drilled for the rode to go into the locker. I just had it installed and it looks and functions great with foot pedals on the bow and rocker control on the bridge. I also replaced the rode with 300 ft of 8 plait and 30 ft of chain.
