Project 779 comes hot on the heels of the launch of the 778 now known as Siren. However, do not be mistaken, the 779 has not been launched but merely the hull and superstructure has been completed recently.

779 is a project being built by Nobiskrug to a design by Felix Buytendijk. Nobiskrug states that the vessel is to be 59.50M long and on April 19, 2006, received the order for the subsequent intent of construction. The 195 foot long modern classic yacht is expected to accommodate 12 guests.

The Felix Buytendijk design features a flared bow and a classically rounded stern. Tender pockets are located on the Bridge-Deck to accommodate tenders amidships. Classic swept lines and rounded mast base accentuate this design as a modern classic.

It is apparent that there will be a full-beam owner's suite to the fore with a split deck for access to 180 degree panoramic windows. Other features are generously provisioned teak-decked exterior spaces for desired applications. Furthermore, if the desired destinations are an ocean apart, the 779 is slated to have a cruising-range of over 4,000 NM. Delivery is for 2009.

The Nobiskrug new build hull 779 was transfered to the Nobiskrug facility in March 2008. The vessel has many distinctive features of the current Jamaica Bay. These include the unmistakable canoe stern and rounded lines.

The current Jamaica Bay has been put on sale which confirms that new build hull 779 at Nobiskrug shipyard is the new Jamaica Bay (III). "JAMAICA BAY is now being offered for sale as the owner is building a larger vessel in Germany." This is a quote from Yachting Partners International.

The present Jamaica has had an extensive refit from April to December 2007, preparing her for sale. The future Jamaica Bay is well under construction and is scheduled for delivery in 2009.

This is the thread for the new "Jamaica Bay" but I see little harm in talking about the old Scheweers here. The original "Jamaica Bay" built by Scheweers in 1987 as the "Leocrie III" has been on the market for a while now but as the owners as soon to take delivery of the new Nobiskrug 799 Jamaica Bay the price has been reduced. Her current price is 15.75-Million USD down from 20-Million USD!

You might want to do a little research there, 6470 is not the "original" JB, hence the Name Jamaica Bay II on the Stern.

Just off the top of my head, wasn't the first Jammie B built by Amels to Diana Yachts design?
