The 132' Explorer

Did you all see the 132 foot Explorer Design by VriPack? She looks pretty shapely for an Explorer but looks very good.

Vripack seems to have something up their sleeves to unveil at this years Monaco Yacht Show (MYS). A Project codenamed "Penumbra". Read the following...

Quote:
Codenamed Penumbra, Vripack is designing in close co-operation with Nakhimov what will be the most innovative and original yacht of 2009. Due for press and public presentation at the upcoming Monaco Yacht Show, she is bound to be a head turner.

“It might be hard to believe however based on the market research of Nakhimov it appears we have found a true gap in the yachting market. This project by its origin and nature is so incredibly fresh and new, yet honest and straightforward that many will say: “now, why did I not think of that?”, says Bart Bouwhuis, Director of Design at Vripack.

“We both were convinced from the very first moment that this concept carries an extremely high potential,” explains Sergei Dobroserdov, Director at Nakhimov. “The enthusiastic Team at Vripack took the out of the ordinary ideas and is now finalizing the design and naval architecture of the talk of Monaco.”

Both Nakhimov and Vripack are unwilling to disclose anything more than that Penumbra is an actual yacht and not an imaginary concept for our sailing enjoyment of tomorrow.

Vripack opens office in New York

Vripack Naval Architect and Brokerage open joined office in downtown New York.

Quote:
400 years after the Dutch Ship Halve Mean discovered Manhattan and founded the colony of New Holland and the city New Amsterdam on the island, now globally known as New York, Vripack Naval Architects and Brokerage follow the footsteps of captain Henry Hudson and open a new office on 44th Street in the world’s leading metropolis.

Opened by Frisian government official Mr. Sjoerd Galema and witnessed by His Royal Highness the Prince of Orange Willem Alexander and Her Highness Princes Maxima, Vripack’s Sales Director Marnix J. Hoekstra and Managing Director of Vripack Brokerage Maarten Ten Holter are highly enthusiastic about the prospects. Ever since the founding of Vripack nearly 50 years ago, we have been authorized to design, engineer and broker many top American yachts for owners and yards alike.

"Beothuk" will be on display at the upcoming Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS). This vessel has the distinction as being the first all-LED lit yacht and she has a beautiful interior. Beothuk is actually on the market for 15.9-Million USD.

Project "Penumbra"

Vripack has been hinting at a new and radical concept in recent months and that it will be unveiled at one of the recent boat shows. This project is unlike-as it seems-any thing that Vripack has done before and it is in the form of a wave-piercing design!

The vessel appears in the form of a yacht friendly version of the US Navy's USS "Swift". The design calls for a 48-meter long platform that is stable and able to carry large payloads, much like the militarized version. With an amidships helipad and ample space for toys, the application for this design might go the way of a toy carrier for a yacht.

Here is a look at the Vripack design...
