May 17, 2008: The Debut of the Hybrid! "On May 17, California Chris-Craft together with Frauscher Boats and Styer Motors unveiled the first ever hybrid recreational boat to the media."
The 256-horsepower Hybrid launched following a signing ceremony entitled "Memorandum of Understanding on Environmental Protection Between Austria and California."
The 25 foot long Chris Craft utilizes a combination of a diesel and electric engine to provide a much cleaner and greener open craft.
"The hybrid boat shown off Friday has a price tag of $185,000 and is made by Frauscher Bootswerft. It's equipped with 256-horsepower Steyr engines. Both are Austrian firms, which might explain the presence of the two California officials."
In the end the collaboration between Chris Craft, Frauscher Bootswert and Steyr resulted in a green and environmentally friendly 25 foot open powercraft.
