A little off topic, but like the Alpha-Z... quite worthy of mention.
This is the OceanTech SS-4000 Center Console Cat.

Some of these center console companies have lost their minds. My neighbor priced a 39' Midnight Express with quad outboards and it was $250,000! The motors are close to $20,000 each, which is also crazy.

Lots of nice yachts to be had for that kind of money!

no the buyers have lost their minds....it is all ego and no common sence....i found that out years back when i was exposed to a ''express cruiser'' type boat to fish on.....there is no reason to have a boat that big that does not have a closed in ''wheel house''....any one who wants to argue ,jump in w/ your +'s,and i'll bury you w/ -'s

I'll bite, one of my favorite boats to run/fish is a 45' Cabo express. I was a FT captain on one and had a full time Mate. Our normal trip to the owner's island was 72NM each way and we'd run out there for 3-4 days fish/dive/come back and stay in Cottages on the island. We had more fuel then the FB version (43') and were able to do over 300NM at a faster cruise. The boat was extremely stable at trolling speeds. We would normally take 10-12 people out there and everyone was either in the air conditioned express deck, or cockpit and all on the same level and could carry on a conversation while trolling. If we hooked a Marlin (the mate was inexperienced) I could run back to the cockpit and leader it myself while the owner took the helm. If I needed to use the head, it was a short hop to the head instead of up and down a bridge ladder all day. Also everyone is on the same level and not split between the bridge and cockpit and inside the salon. We also had plenty of tackle storage, freezers, fish boxes and such to fish anywhere we wanted and for a long time.....as well as more tackle storage in the express deck....... as well as a tower that was the heighth of a flybridge version if you wanted the visibility.

There's an a** for every seat.

That being said, you would never see me shell out anything CLOSE to the asking price for that thing. I'm with CaptJ. Give me a 45' Cabo for the same price with all the amenities one could ask for.

Not just a stabbin' cabin with porta-potti.

My fault!

I meant a 35 Cabo Express, which I fell in love with after I spent some time on one this summer. Perfect for the type of fishing/cruising I do. It's at home in the bay but even more comfortable at the canyons.

It's about the same length overall, with much better range, FAR better amenities, and right in the price range.

Just a better fit for me.

I agree with you completely that the Cabo is ten times the boat and probably a better fit for anyone that could afford it.

Probably the reason that Ocean Tech Yachts is no longer in business as far as I can tell.

Those large center consoles are really popular down south in warmer climates, I'd imagine. Center consoles are great for fishability, but lack practical functionality, IMO.

Here in South Florida they are very popular because they are very versatile for bar hopping, fishing, diving, speed, lots of people.......less to maintain........Plus people aren't running more then a few miles to start fishing.......unlike the NE.......and the weather is more predictable I guess both temperature and waves.........
