Internet on boats

Hi everyone,

I work as an engineer/technican for mainly computers and was asked by a friend of a friend on how and what is the best and cheapest way to have TV and Internet using a satellite antenna on a small boat. The boat is about 30M and has 2 domes either side with nothing inside, What is the answer please.

Thanks for your help

Hi,

Welcome to YF. There is a member called aspicer here who should be able to answer all your questions.

Here is a similar thread he started a while ago.

Go to the KVH website. You can do TV in one dome and then the mini V-sat in the other.
We had an internet antenna put in before going down island by Alan and it worked quite well for pulling in WiFi.

Hi everyone,

I have been away in Greece and had the chance to check these pages and also at the same time, found another couple of companies, one was gmcomms.net and the other was kvh.com. Everyone seems to either attach their service with antennas or can swap different services with different antennas. The antenna I have found that nearly everyone has or wants is the Seatel antenna.

One thing I found is that gmcomms has a very cheap monthly rate and the others are more expensive and also very difficult to find prices on their sites.

Anyway, thought I would update you, and again Thanks for your help.

I will keep plodding along.
