Liferafts life expectancy

Assuming a stowed liferaft receives the proper care and maintenance it requires, can anyone tell me what the stowed life expectancy is? A client is buying a boat that has a 1989 Switlik 8 man liferaft and I'm curious if they should consider replacing it. I have already suggested that it be inspected and that the owners be there when it's taken out so as to be familiar with what is there. Better to see it for the first time in a shop and not with a howling gale, 15 foot seas and the dark of night.
