A couple of these filters are falling apart and time to replace. Checked with several ac houses and contractors with no success. The mesh is 1/4" thick and 7" x 15". Are carbon filters any better? Any ideas where to purchase?
    thanks.

Yes it is on the return air. Never seen it at a local hardware here.

You can use the thin fiberglass mesh filters or whatever they are that are black in color and cut to fit. The local dealer here for Cruiseair etc sells it. But I think even the black one in Home Depot would be fine (the one you cut to fit with the plastic re-inforcing mesh behind it.

When you clean them, spray them with an anti-bacterial spray such as fantastick as bacteria will grow on them, prior to rinsing them out.

We use the coarse mesh from Lowes or Home Depot (blue or green) and cut to size. The finer dark foam really restricts the airflow. That alloy mesh worked O K when new but the salt environment and age will prevail and EOL comes quickly. They (alloy mash) fall apart just in trying to clean them.

You could call Tavis Hardware in Cocoa and see what they have, and if they'd send it up to you. Makes HD look like the hardware dept at Walmart.
