good day everyone, happy thanksgiving to all the americans. My exhaust lagging is starting to stain. It seems to be from the inside - out, and no cleaning products are working. Is there a cleaning solution for this or is replacement the way to go. Thanks in advance

    Hi,

That is certainly unusual looking staining.

If you unwrap one of the blankets does the brown stain appear on the inner surface as well?

If it is from the inside I think the only way to improve it will be to replace it if you cannot find a paint that can be applied to it.

It appears to be only on the high spots. I think it might be from using cleaning products or abrasion from something. It looks like the aluminum coating is worn through.

Thanks everyone - No exhaust leaks, I havent used any products until now, just a wipe clean. I'll take a look at that paint. Nothing seems to penetrate the top side, when I get to the boat I'll remove that piece and see what's underneth.

Looks like something or somebody has been rubbing on it. Is this riser near a entrance or hatch way? It it leaned on to access something in the E R?

Its at the entrance to the engine room, and has a railing in front of it.

It's looks like the raised/high spots are worn. The low spots, like under a fold or crease, is not stained. Body oil/sweat or towel with some harsh cleaner/chemical has laid over it. I don't think it's from under the blanket.
How does the other riser look?

That's not staining, that's the finish wearing off.

    Hi,

Get a can and try it, it will be the cheapest solution if it works.

Looks like this might be a Firwin product. Who is the manufacturer?
