Mercruiser diesel model d254 - any experience?

    I am looking at a 28' Albin 1993 TE model that is powered with a single Mercruiser 210 HP diesel model d254. It is reported to be a BMW engine. I can only find one other Albin 28 with this same power. Most seem to have Peninsular or Yanmar. I'm curious to know if anyone has any experience, good or bad with this Mercruiser diesel engine. Thanks in advance!

    Afternoon,
    You may want to look at the variety, price and ease of purchase of parts before you go much further. Check a few sources and don't go by what the yard mechanic or the broker says. You may not want to depend on one source for parts.
