High water alarm going off forward compartment

    Yesterday while out 45 miles fishing my high water alarm went off showing water in the front bidge compartment. I ran down the bridge first checked the engine room and it was dry. Went down in forward compartment and it was dry. Good feeling. Pushed engine alarms reset breaker off in engine room to stop noise. Could not find the reason it was going off. Came home reset breaker and still have bell ringing. Now trying to find reason. Any ideas.

    If you are in rougher seas and the bow falls quickly the high water "float" switch may go up- giving you a false high water reading.

    We were in pretty good seas and did take some banging. Will check the float out and see if it might be stuck up. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Yeahp you are 100% right, I have the same problem, on rough seas the high water goes on on every drop.....

    It shouldn't stay in the up position, but the alarm will continue to sound until you acknowledge it (ie turn it off). It's a good gauge that you ought not to out there anyways...:D

    Unfortunately there is no way to acknowledge it without turning off the breaker to all boat alarms. Sure its a good gauge when working properly although listening to an alarm offshore when you have no water problem will mess up a good day of fishing.
