Hi,

The list would be shorter if you asked which years wern't a problem.

It is my understanding that a lot of the problems related to the flywheel magnets coming adrift and a guy who worked at Bob Hewes Boats in Nth Miami came up with a patented fix which he sold to OMC and he is no longer working as a mechanic.

Mercury also has had a lot of issues with the flywheel magnets coming loose, even more so then OMC. Either way you just need to epoxy them back in from where they came from.

The major issues with OMC were the FICHTS and they are very costly to fix and parts are very costly, and problematic. The OceanPro's and previous engines and whatnot are pretty reliable.
