Shore water full time hook up - Air Leak?

I own a 1971 Chris Craft Constellation. We've hooked up to City shore water. We have used a RV type pressure restrictor at the inlet. Every time we turn on any faucet there is a vibrating sound of air either escaping or entering (not sure) Is this normal? Its very annoying

Maybe it's the restricter valve fluttering?

On perhaps you need a pulse damping tank hooked up in your water system if you don't have one already?

Is it constant or just as you plug in? If its just as you plug in sounds like the reducer chattering.

It is normal for some of those regulators to pulse...... remove it from the inlet and hook it up to the city water outlet and the garden hose should take out the pulsing and chattering through the boat. It is also normal to have air if you've turned the hose off and then on again but should only last a minute with a faucet on the boat opened.

and it's also normal for boat to sink when hooked up to dockside water when a fitting fails... call me paranoid but i never hook up.

and using your on board tank means you are refreshing the contents every few day, keep them fresh and clean.

OK Paranoid. One good shower empties the tank...sometimes before you're done. Then there's always tank taste. I'll just shut the water when leaving the boat.

i rarely wait for the tank to get down to the last shower...

tank taste? nope... good filtration takes care of that along with using the water.
