Not a whole lot of SAIL there, huh?
I think that was one reason this show was never a big attraction to me in the past. Be interesting to see what happens in the next several years as fuel prices around the world really go up.

Plenty of blow-boat builders, but my lense focused on motoryachts.

Yep, it was of the feline persuasion, but it looks like something out of a Mark Twain novel.

I like the idea they had with the Oceanco Y705 model with the port side showing a white version and starboard the blue.
Disappointed of course that none of our models made it (maybe next year) but maybe your excellent coverage will spur on more model business.
Again, great models.

Many thanks for posting these YachtForums! Looks like the model makers of the world have been pretty busy over the last few months!
I have a soft spot for 'artists impressions' or 'renders' but these models just can't be beaten. Fantastic
There's also a massive amount of good looking designs there too. Must be a real nightmare for owners to choose who to design their next yacht... lucky I don't have that problem... |

I have been looking at these photos again and have noticed that it looks like Delta and Amels display their models open without a case. Is that right? Gulp! I would think curious people would poke them to death!
Post 29, the Kingship, it that ever sleek for them!
Who's design is post 11 displayed by Cavendish White?
And the Dockwise model in post 19 must be like 6 feet long!?
Thanks again Carl.

Carl,
The Heesen "Galactica" has some very interesting lines.

Is there any more information about the Lürssen concept? A caption I read claimed it was by a Russian designer.
Intriguingly similar in concept to my final year university project - a yacht that does not necessarily have to look exactly like a yacht. Vaguely similar in looks too, I was obviously on the right lines.

Hi Arnie,
Agreed. And in typical fashion, it's distinctly Heesen. The go-fast look works well for Heesen and they are still able to produce variations that give each build individuality. Here's a link to the PR on Galactica... http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/he...galactica.html
But my favorite remains "Yalla" and as such, we did a review... http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/he...sen-yalla.html |

Some truly luvverly-looking yacht models there. Many thanks to Carl for posting the images - yachts can look so much better (or not, as the case may be) in full-3D.
But how much do they cost to buy? How many crew do they need? How much fuel do they burn? How much in annual maintenance? It never ceases to amaze me that all this sort of information is displayed when you're shopping for a fridge-freezer at Walmart or wherever. And they offer a full 5 year warranty for a small additional payment.
Yet when it comes to superyachts...?! Duhh, I was talking about the models...
PS. Whatever happens to the old models that never get built, do they simply gather dust in some back-office storage space? Only, I wouldn't mind one of them on my bookshelf instead. That way also, my day-dreaming might have more substance...?! |
